USA based Bryan Friedman, Also known as FATALhydra and Sykophiend, is most well known as a journalist for the drum ‘n bass community, working for over a decade with many respected publications and record labels - Disturbed Recordings, Guerilla Recordings, Blu Saphir, Influenza Media, Soundz Devious Recordings, Dogsonacid.com, Rinse Mag, and Bassline Magazine. 2012 is upon us, and the native Chicagoan is more prepared than ever to take the world by storm.
Sykophiend has been hitting spots in Illinois and California for the last eight years, with one of his defining moments being booked for Omar Santana’s fifth installment of the world renowned “Hardcore for the Headstrong” Fueled with an arsenal of blistering beats, thunderous basslines, and razor sharp stabs, the dancefloor would be torn apart in a chaotic mosh pit, sending shockwaves through the warehouse structure following an immense drop of Audio and Mackie’s “Master of Puppets Remix.” 2009 saw Bryan get picked up by JAG Events for slots at The Kandy Festival 2009-2010, The Kosmic Festival 2009 and Butterfly Ball 2009. With nearly 7,000 in attendance at each gig, Bryan’s prowess would increase to a vicious fervor, mashing up anything from jungle/drum n’ bass to gabber to breakcore to metal while using quick cuts, double drops and switches to manipulate the crowd into a sea of hyper slam-dancing maniacs Most recently though, Bryan has enrolled in the Los Angeles Recording School to learn the art of audio engineering, music production and sound design. His future endeavors include vocal collaborations with a cluster of Los Angeles’ hardstyle elite, and drum and bass producers across the world.
Sykophiend has shared the stage with hardcore legends, Dione and Omar Santana; DJ Irene, DJ Reza, Felix Da Housecat, S3rl, Junior Sanchez, Danny the Wildchild, DJ Monk, Donald Glaude, 4 Strings, Bizerk, and 1996 DMC Champion, DJ Swamp. Look out for the man on tour this year, hitting various locations throughout the United States while taking his production skills to the next level.
